What are the non-fiction, fiction, and romance titles receiving above-average attention these days that should be at the top of everyone’s reading list, and why?

If you’re looking forward to catching up on some reading, there’s no shortage of great books to choose from!

One new non-fiction book that deals with a wide variety of topics is Lee Maracle’s Conversations with Canadians. Best known as a poet, author, and Indigenous activist, Maracle’s book tackles subjects such as law, prejudice, and reconciliation. She puts forth insightful discussions with individuals from across the country while incorporating personal anecdotes. Good read for anyone interested in Canadian culture and Indigenous affairs!

For fans of fiction, Hum If You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais is an extraordinary debut novel that tells the story of a white girl and a young black woman in apartheid-era South Africa. When nine-year-old Robin’s parents are killed in the Soweto uprising, Beauty is hired to look after her. The extraordinary novel thus focuses on the forging of a bond based on loss. We hope you're ready to shed some tears, I know I'm ready!

The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo tells the story of Lucy and Gabe, who fall passionately in love in their senior year at college. Things change after graduation: Gabe gets his dream job as a war photographer, and Lucy marries a reliable man with whom she can create a stable family life.
